- Discussion Participants: Indian, Israeli, Mexican and Palestinian educators involved in the environmental education of youths.
- Target Audience: Youth group leaders, citizens, and volunteers interested in individual and community educational activities with global perspective and local roots.

Profile: PhD. Outdoor and environmental education section, School of Education, the University of Edinburgh
Dr. Nicol's research focuses on outdoor education for sustainable living. He certified as an instructor in canoeing/kayaking, mountaineering and skiing and is involved in professional development projects focusing on learning in the context of landscapes.

Educators from India, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, the U.K. and West Bank Palestine will report about local activities in environmental education. (see profiles)

Participants will divide into different theme groups for discussion. Each group will discuss hurdles to and methods of activities that aim to create sustainable communities based on keynote speech and reports from the field.
