Hiroshima Chef: Mrs. Yamamoto

Mixed-Grain Rice Mixed-Grain Rice
Mixed-Grain Rice
Description
1) Mix 5 cups of white rice with one cup of mixed grains(millet, foxtail millet, Japanese millet, wheat, soy, etc.)
2) Cook as you would normal rice

Worth Taking Note
Mr. and Mrs. Yamamoto @This dish is super nutritious. Most rice in Japan is stripped of its nutrition when it is polished and bleached. Adding mixed grains gives regular rice a boost in nutrition, adds texture, and adds to its flavor. Mr. and Mrs. Yamamoto have learned with their own bodies that unhealthy food and lifestyle habits can be very harmful. This simple recipe along with every meal they eat is all natural, organic, and healthy. Their prior illnesses have been healed since they changed their lifestyles and food habits. (see report from 11.28)

How was it?
@This rice has a much richer texture than regular rice. Since there is only 1/5 grain, the taste is almost the same as regular rice with just a healthy hint of grain flavor.

Hiroshima Prefecture
@This dish isn't particularly linked to Hiroshima. Mixed grains can be traced back to the first inhabitants of Japan over 10,000 years ago. After World War II, mixed grains lost popularity as food habits began to change in Japan. The grains which have almost been forgotten are now being reevaluated as very healthy and in some circles are part of a new health food boom.
